Lagoa do Carro's Museum of the Sugar cane brandy is a private entity. It was inaugurated in December tenth of 1998 by its idealist and founder: the entrepreneur José Moisés Moura, considered the world's largest collector of sugar cane brandy.

 
Located in the State of Pernambuco, distant 60 Km from the Capital, in the municipal district of Lagoa do Carro (close to Carpina), the museum has an extensive and diversified collection. It was built to show, through its bottles, a part of the history and importance of the sugar cane brandy.
 


The sugar cane brandy, made from the traditional sugar cane is an important step in the evolution of Brazil as a great nation.

The museum shows a small part of the history of Brazil, its culture, its habits and its geography through the labels of sugar cane brandy..

 

Although it has a collection that impresses any visitor, the museum doesn't just show bottles: there are pictures, books, poetries, jokes, ornamental illustrations in miniature and natural size, curiosities, rare copies, journalistic articles, loas and, finally, a vast material related to the theme of sugar cane brandy..  


The museum is divided in 3 exhibition sections and a tasting hall:

 


The Bar of Papudinho, is the final room of the museum and it is where the visitors will be able to: taste excellent marks of sugar cane brandy, eat regional appetizers, buy museum souvenirs and sugar cane brandies from several regions of Brazil. They will also find the traditional Mel de Engenho (honey made from sugar cane) and rapadura..


As a final attraction of the museum you will meet and take pictures with the museum's characters: the Drunk, Papudinho and the Cabocla, don't forget your camera.

The museum is opened for daily visitation (including Saturdays, Sundays and holidays), from 09:00am till 05:00pm. the entire tour at the museum will be made with the aid of a professional guide to offer explanations and clarify any doubts the visitord might have. The entrance costs only R$2,00.
